Dear Visitor,
As the dlr Festival of World Cultures celebrates its tenth Anniversary this July, I am delighted to welcome you to Ireland’s largest intercultural celebration.
Over the past decade, the Festival has contributed greatly to the cultural and economic life of the County and has brought a celebrated and acclaimed programme of music, arts events, family events and theatre to Dún Laoghaire each summer since its inception in 2001.
From its beginning the Festival has set out to showcase the value and potential of a multicultural society, and this summer celebrates ten years of this challenging and exciting ambition.
In keeping with the Council’s ongoing commitment to delivering an accessible arts programme for the entire community many of the Festival events are again free of charge in 2010.
I wish you an enjoyable Festival experience!

Welcome All!
This year we are proud to present a special series of Anniversary events, from Homeland, an exceptional vocal collaboration in Monkstown Church, to Faith Space a universal programme in response to the Charter for Compassion. Expanding through the airwaves we bring the Festival to the far side of the planet with our very own Internet Radio Station, Radio Hemisphere, and to help us better understand the eff ects of global trade and its repercussions we bring you Trade Routes, because ‘It Doesn’t Have to Cost The Earth’. And don’t forget to dress up and line the streets for Sunday’s Birthday Bloco Carnival!
For world music enthusiasts, we bring you an extensive line up of Irish debuts from the King of Raï himself Algerian legend Khaled, Malian superstar Rokia Traoré and Trinidadian diva Calypso Rose, as well as a stunning line up of traditional Irish music at the Kingston Station.
For the past 10 years the dlr Festival of World Cultures has been brought to you by a dedicated and talented team of people. Each year this extraordinary Festival Family reach beyond the call of duty, bringing to life a vision of Ireland’s future; an integrated nation that values and is inspired by its multi-cultural society.
On this special occasion, the Festival would like to extend its warm thanks to everyone who has participated in its 10 year campaign to celebrate the Rainbow Isle. We hope that you can join us for this Anniversary Festival to experience the awesome talents of some of the world’s greatest stars as well as the magic of our local community projects. We invite you to soak up the sights and the sounds of the world as Dún Laoghaire, once again, hosts a glittering line-up of international artists.
