Composer, musician and one of the great Irish songwriters Pól Brennan brings together two of the world’s most emotive instrumentalists for a stunning musical migration from China and Kenya to Ireland.

Pól Brennan is the winner of both BAFTA and IFTA Awards for his film and television scores and of a Meteor Music Lifetime Achievement Award for his work with the internationally renowned Clannad. On this special occasion Brennan has invited two of the greatest artists he has produced for Peter Gabriel’s Real World label to join him in a global collaboration, Kenya’s nyatiti player Ayub Ogada and China’s flautist Guo Yue.

Ayub Ogada’s career is a colourful story spanning Nairobi dance bands and London Underground busking to recording at Real World studios, as well as forays in the film business. Born in Kenya to the Luo tribe, Ogada is a master of the nyatiti (lyre) whose unforgettable soundtrack for the The Constant Gardener won him critical praise worldwide. With his deeply soulful voice, ankle bells percussion and the trancelike nyatiti, an Ogada performance is a moving and rare experience.

World renowned virtuoso of the dizi (bamboo flute) and bawu (reed pipe) China’s Guo Yue is credited as being one of the greatest flautists in the world. Having composed soundtracks for films such as the Oscar-winning The Last Emperor and The Killing Fields, Guo is a much in demand composer whose fragile yet powerful sound touches the soul.

With gutsy, contemporary folk singer Tara Byrne leading the vocals, this incomparable line up, also featuring Ged Lynch, Blanca Rohleder and Yoshi Izumi will be a powerful fusion and an enchanting musical journey.
