Singing Tree

Children are invited to explore magical tales from India and beyond, while singing, acting and playing music through the stories with Sunny Neerahoo. Sunny will animate the stories and bring the characters alive with the help of his new group of storytellers! The singing tree will take place under a special, magical tree in the park.

Muraqqa’ Imperial Mughal Albums from the Chester Beatty Library

At this unique exhibition, Justyna Chmielewska and Jill Unkel will guide you through a ‘Hands On’ session, handling objects from old India, exploring silks, saris, turbans, shoes and more. Meet Jill and Justyna and explore beautiful fabrics and objects and find out more about the history of Mughal India.

Mini Temple

The Hindu Cultural Centre are creating a special mini Hindu temple in the park, this will feature sacred deities, Hindu scriptures and other artefacts. We are delighted to include this unique installation in the Mela event, while representing one of the main faiths in India.

The Hindu Cultural Centre Ireland (HCCI) aims to promote and create awareness about the Indian culture based on one of the oldest religions in world. The faith does not claim exclusivity; it is universal and open to ‘humanity’. HCCI proposes to establish learning and spiritual, cultural centre for promotion of philosophy, teachings and culture through music, art, workshops and teachings in languages, etc. It will be accessible to all communities. Through education and promotion of its subtle values, the Indian culture will make significant contribution to integration of various communities in today’s multicultural Ireland. HCCI is currently fund-raising for acquisition of premises for the cultural centre and will gratefully accept any support it receives. Yoga

Join the Mela yoga class and release tension, relaxing your mind and body. Increase your energy levels for the rest of the day ahead and learn some yoga moves for life with Angie Kinsella from Yogaway.

Angie has been practicing yoga over the past 10 years and continues to embrace the many new experiences each day through this way of life the “yoga way”. Being a practicing Holistic Therapist, Angie teaches in a manner, which encourages body awareness, body integrity and stillness within movement. Focusing attention towards the wholeness of the movement and approaching yoga as a therapy and a way of life. This event is free, however donations are welcomed.
