Telling stories of Hindu mythology with a focus on the mastery of abstract hand gestures and movements, Bharatnatyam is one of the most popular classical Indian dances. It is famous in the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and is almost 2,000 years old. Meena Purushothaman is a master of this form. She began learning Bharatanatyam at a very young age in Rukmini Devi Arundale’s Dance Institute. Her students have performed in India, Bahrain, Oman and are currently performing throughout Ireland. Witness this breathtaking ancient dance piece, capturing audiences with mesmerizing movements. Then continue on to follow the Bharatanatyam Trail in the park throughout the day.
