The Festival Code

The dlr Festival of World Cultures is a family friendly festival that crosses cultural, ethnic, religious and social bridges. As you enjoy the Festival over the weekend we ask you to embrace its ethos and respect the diversity of cultures around you.  For many people of other cultures and religious faiths, alcohol does not form part of society. If you are drinking please respect the beliefs of others by drinking responsibly.

1. It is illegal to drink alcohol outside of licensed premises –by laws will be enforced.

2. Be mindful of local residents when attending the Festival and be quiet when leaving the area.

3. Deposit your rubbish in the general waste and recycling bins provided.

4. It is illegal to trade or busk throughout the site without a permit.

5. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day, as both sunshine and alcohol can dehydrate severely.

6. Also make sure to replenish with some of the superb food on offer throughout the Festival.

7. We encourage you to travel the green way and reduce traffic congestion. Do not drink and drive under any circumstances.

8. Remember the morning after. Your body gets rid of roughly one standard drink – that’s half a pint, a glass of wine or a shot – per hour. Do the maths and drive safely.

9. Keep an eye out for your friends at the Festival. Arrange a meeting point; encourage those who have had too much alcohol to drink some water.
