Faith Space @ Festival

Faith Space

FREE EVENT

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the dlr Festival of World Cultures and in celebration of this important landmark the Festival has chosen the theme of ‘faith’, to deepen its ethos of building communities by better understanding diversity and the wisdom that communities of all faiths hold.

The Faith Space project has been working in an outreach capacity with communities of all faiths since March this year. The ambition of this project was to identify and build upon common values shared by people of all faiths, with the intention of creating a Charter to be launched over the Festival weekend.

During these sessions the recurring theme of ‘compassion’ was recognised as a core shared value.  In response to this finding, the Festival adopted one of the world’s most groundbreaking Charters, the International Charter for Compassion as the inspiration for Faith Space @ Festival.

Over the weekend Faith Space @ Festival will host a multi-faith programme of events in response to the theme of ‘compassion’. From music and dance, prayer and passage sharing, to storytelling, chanting, exhibitions and discussions. Meet the Buddhist Monks from India’s Drepung Loseling Monastery and take part in a Q&A session with Tibetan Lama Nyendak Tulku.  Relax, sip green tea, talkand exchange with others, and if you are inspired by the Charter for Compassion, please join in affirming and signing it.
